Our
Story
Our story started in 2022 with a passion for helping people move better and live healthier. At Ability In Movement, we’ve created a welcoming space in Margate where Exercise Physiology meets real-world results in supporting seniors, NDIS participants, and anyone looking to improve strength, balance, and confidence in their daily life.
Ability In Movement began humbly in the back room of DB Therapy, with one simple goal; to help people move better and feel their best. From children to older adults, we started working with clients aged 5 to 83, seeing firsthand how the right exercise can change lives.

I’ve always believed in the incredible potential of Exercise Physiology and wanted to bring that opportunity to the Redcliffe community.
If exercise could be bottled up as medicine, it would be the most prescribed treatment in the world. So I decided to make it my mission to deliver it through movement.

Director/Accredited Exercise Physiologist
Connor Liekefett
Why did you become and Exercise Physiologist? I originally wanted to be a strength & conditioning coach for elite sport teams. That was until I reached our clinical subjects at uni. I found it so much more rewarding helping someone get out of pain or helping them walk without their walking frame than adding 5kg to someones Squat 1RM and I haven't looked back What's your go to tip for staying active and healthy? Find something that you enjoy doing, if you don't enjoy it, you're not going to stick to it What do you do outside of the clinic? A lot of my time is taken up by my little boy and getting coffee at my local coffee shop, but when I get the chance, I absolutely adore my camping

Why did you become an Exercise Physiologist? I became an Exercise Physiologist because I’ve seen firsthand how exercise can change people’s lives. Growing up playing sports and training in the gym, I was often approached by friends and family asking how to overcome injuries or stick with exercise after giving up in the past. Over time, I found myself diving deep into the science of rehabilitation and movement. Through this, I discovered a real passion for helping others move and feel better. That passion ultimately inspired me to pursue exercise physiology as a career. What is your go-to tip for staying active and healthy? The best way to stay healthy and active is to find activities you genuinely enjoy and connect with people who share those interests. It’s perfectly okay not to love every form of exercise; the key is to keep exploring until you find something that clicks. When you do, it won’t feel like a chore, and progress will come naturally. Bonus tip: Once you find what you love, join a club or community around it. Surrounding yourself with like-minded people makes staying active more fun, social, and sustainable. What do you like doing outside of the clinic Outside of work, I enjoy riding my bike to local cafes, playing sports like tennis, rock climbing, and volleyball, or having a quiet night in watching movies with my partner. I’m also a bit of a foodie, so if you have any great restaurant recommendations, let me know because I’m always keen to try something new!

Tayliah Tam
Why did you become an Exercise Physiologist? During my bachelor's, I saw firsthand how an Exercise Physiologist can impact someone's exercise journey. This experience inspired me to pursue Exercise Physiology, so I could become that person someone could rely on and trust with their exercise. I deeply enjoy working with people and encouraging them to achieve their goals. Whether that involves improving their sport performance, rehabilitation after an injury or just moving comfortably and confidently. What is your go-to tip for staying active and healthy? My first go to tip is to just start small whether that be going for a walk after work or taking a moment in the morning to stretch your body. Additionally, choosing exercise that you enjoy and that is individualised to your needs is very important for creating routine and motivation. What do you like doing outside of the clinic? I enjoy a variety of activities, including going to the beach, taking long walks, doing word searches and playing volleyball. I always like being out and about!
